CWL Division 3 Season 3 Finals
CCG Rho vs Abstract EternitySunday, 21st of August, 18:00 CEST
Another CWL season is coming to a conclusion and division 3 has reached its peak first - the grand finals will be played on Sunday 21st of August. Multiple teams and orgs battled it through but only 2 will have a shot to leave their name in CWL history CCG Rho and Abstract Eternity. On the line - CWL division 3 title, bragging rights over the other team, and most importantly - discord fame. What can be better than that?
Both teams started their journey in group A and have faced each other three times already going 1-1 in the group setting up a tiebreaker that CCG won to take 1st place in their group. Will Rho repeat the history and win another series versus Eternity or will KaptenPungKul rally his team behind him to avenge their group stage loss and take home the CWL trophy? Let's see the teams.
Abstract Eternity
CWL season so far: Abstract Eternity opened their CWL journey with their to-be rivals for championship CCG Rho. And they started with a bang with their toplaner going 15/1 on Gwen. Celebrations were short as they did lose their second game to Rho and we're back to the planning board but they took that team that dominated that game one and channeled the same strengths and while KaptenPunggKul was starring, the rest of the team rallied around as well with other dominating performances sweeping trough MonkEsports and Worldwide Hardstuck Federation setting up the tiebreaker versus CCG Rho. But the tiebreaker is a write-off for ABE since their star toplaner did not participate in this game, so for all that Abstract Eternity cares about, the score between these two teams is tied. In the semi-finals, they were underdogs as many league followers expected Runtime to face against the CCGs team in the finals, but they upset their Italian counterparts and behind 3 stellar Ahri games by team midlaner Annie Tibber, earned their chance to rematch their group A rivals.
Strengths: Pocket picks and toplane. It is a challenge to draft against Abstract Eternity since they carry few, unorthodox, hard to prepare for picks. Midlaner is an Annie master, adc can whip out a nasty Nilah, support can pull out a surprise Taric, and these are just a few. When drafting against ABE you have to keep their pocket pick angle in mind.
But I can not leave the strengths section without mentioning KaptenPunggKul. The hard carry toplaner has been putting in numbers in CWL. Here are some of his numbers: previously mentioned 15/1 Gwen vs Rho, 14/1 annihilation of WHF on Olaf, 15/1 bloodbath vs Monke on Darius. This man is a Chad toplaner and will strike fear in his opposition.
Weaknesses: Dealing with strong botlanes. It is clear that Abstract Eternity topside has been dominating, but botlane often plays the supporting and weakside role in their games. There lies an exposable opportunity for teams to attack. Doubling down and repeatedly ganking botlane can open a chance to get your botlane so strong that you will be able to always kite out these toplane bruiser picks of ABE.
Teams captain Chuncks(Mid) comment before the game: "I am feeling quite confident! I and my team have been training hard to get better over the last couple of months and we can see a lot of improvement. Our strength lies in our individual mechanics, and we are very confident in our macro. I personally feel like I will crush my mid-matchup and I am sure my team will crush the other players as well. 3-1".
Ccg Rho
CWL season so far: When it was a formed couple of months ago teams players had no idea how successful this squad might become, but Rho has been on a roll looking strong right from the start of the CWL split. Rho debuted in CWL with a close at times, but overall confident 2piecing of World Hardstuck Federation behind Shippex strong ADC play. Soon enough the finals preview was there when Rho faced Eternity and what is known as "the Gwen incident" in CCGs corridors happened as their opposing toplaner went 15-1 and even their midlane Zhan mu sins 10/3/10 Kassadin could not save it. They did take their revenge in game 2 and after a quick dismantling of MonkESports, they played the tiebreaker versus Abstract Eternity again, taking them down behind 17 kill outing of their star adc Shippex. This result set them up to face group B 2nd place team Baboongoons. Baboongoons did not show any real resistance to Rho setting up another facing of a team that has been the only one to cause them any trouble in this CWL season - Abstract Eternity.
Strengths: As a team, you could describe CCG Rho as a team that gets their leads with solid macro and setting up as a team, but if I need to pinpoint a star - it's team's superstar ADC player Shippex. Double-digit kill counts are every day for Shippex, with an enchanter boost from team support Pinchy, no game is truly over if Shippex is your carry.
Weaknesses: Fast rotations and quickly answering opponent engages and dealing with carry toplaners. Rho can be a bit slow at setting up their plays, once they are at an objective, in the right formation fight, they can be unstoppable, but if you attack them while they are setting up, chaos starts and Rho gets very puzzled around the map. Also the toplane thing, the biggest problem they have had is dealing with Gwen, but even other than that, putting their toplaners under pressure of dealing with carry opponent can be the weakness for their team.
Teams captain Zhan Mu Si comment before the game: "We don't underestimate their team, but after playing 3 games against them, we feel pretty confident and clear about their strengths, weaknesses, ours and their win conditions, and are ready to tackle it. I personally feel very excited since I have had my best games of the tournament against ABE. The "Gwen Incident" will not repeat as we will neutralize their strengths and win through ours." After hearing that ABE captain has been talking some smack Zhan Mu Si added ""Their team should rename to Abstract Toplane Only as the rest are irrelevant".
Matchup of the series
These 2 are so evenly matched and I am sure they will give us an absolute banger. Both teams know each other's plans, both teams know how to push their leads and they are on a collision course. With predictions, I have to go with the team that has looked more clean and dominant so far, as well as is in the lead of their inter-team series. CCG is going to take by a razor-thin matchup, it might be an unsung hero making the winning play or a star player penta kill, but it will be close.
