CWL Division 2 Season 3 Finals

Good Chi Gaming vs Kinetic Esports
Sunday, 28st of August, 16:00 CEST

CWL season roundup continues, last week we crowned division 3 champions as Curtain Call Gamings Rho squad swept their finals, this week it's division 2 time and we have a banger. A team that is very close to my heart - Good Chi Gaming will face a rematch against a team they already defeated in the group stage - Kinetic Esports, but this time it's for whole another level - the CWL division 2 title. CWL title, discord fame, and 40 euro prize are on the line, but there is a bit more to it as these 2 squads have a bit of history, but more about that next.

Surely different paths for both teams to end up here, Good Chi has been dominating, not dropping a single game in the tournament yet, finishing the group stage with a 6-0 record and then adding a 2-0 semi-finals to secure their place here, Kinetic on other side had their struggles and battled through every stage of the tournament  - finishing 2nd behind Chi in groups, they had to eliminate Valhalla in quarter-finals and then go down 0-1 reverse sweeping Wacky Wraiths to earn their place in finals. But teams are back and ready to go.

To add to this matchup, bit of a history here. A love Note, Kinetics adc played a small part in the creation of Good Chi Gaming - more than a year ago both, Good Chi founder Savage Mikus and A Love Note were part of MGB team formatting and community tournament discord server. After a dispute, Savage Mikus left MGB Team 7(Tea 7) and was replaced by A Love Note, while Savage formed his own MGB team, MGB Team 10, that later became Good Chi Gaming.

Kinetic Esports

CWL season so far: It's been a long journey for KNR to get here. They started off as a 2nd team for Kinetic - Kinetic Rising but have grown throughout the tournament to become not only Kinetic 1st team but to contend for 1st place team in the CWL div 2. Wins against Crescente Lunari were a good start for their tournament, but their group stage meeting with Good Chi marked a need for change in the team's jungle. I would say that as the key moment in their CWL run is making a roster swap and putting their coach Mules as a starting jungle, they are yet to lose any series or even more than 1 game. They did get challenged by, WW losing game 1, but Kinetics' teamwork and energy came through securing them a rematch with Chi.

Strengths: Mules have been shining in CWL, with creative ganking paths, excellent use of hexflash, and unexpected picks like Mordekaiser, Mules is the ace up Kinetics' sleeve that gives them a fighting chance in every game. It will be Mules' 1st time playing against Good Chi and she will look to prove that she is the factor that will completely swing this matchup in Kinetics' favor.

Weaknesses: Playing from behind. Game 1 against Wacky Wraights and their group stage games against Chi showed that Kinetic really struggles when put behind, as they often slowly lose rather than create openings to get back in the game. It will be a lot on teams star jungler Mules to help his team avoid this position.

Teams captain A Love Note(ADC) comment before the game: "I feel like it will be a good match that can go either way. If we bring our A game, I am sure we can win, but as long as both teams show up, it will be a 5 game series".

Good Chi Gaming

CWL season so far: Even though some games have been very close, you have to call Good Chis CWL run dominant, I mean they are undefeated with 8-0 record and 6-0 in games played on the rift. But let's dive a bit deeper into their season. 2-0s in the group stage over Kinetic and Crescente Lunari gave them a QF bye seeding them directly into the semi-finals, where they had one extremely dominant game. The other one tho - they were so close to having their winning streak snapped but managed to pull out an excellent lategame team fighting and picks on key targets to go in finals undefeated.

Strengths: The team is working like a well-oiled machine and is shooting on all cylinders, but if there is one thing to acknowledge it's their dominant teamfighting and pickoffs. When they are in lead, they anihilate the opposition, when they are behind they find the key pick or engage on the key target to win the game and so far it has worked every time.

Weaknesses: Playing against off-meta champs that they haven't faced a lot. Good Chi is a very well-prepared team as they do their homework before playing, very well. Offmeta surprises have had their success in upsetting that preparation. Players like the Shy Tiny Girl on Lees Sn and Strophic on Illaoi gave them a solid amount of trouble.

Teams captain Loco(Support) comment before the game: "I am looking forward to it a lot. The last time we met Kinetic seemed quite rusty and so we kinda easily punished their mistakes. However, since then they've seemingly upgraded their toplaner and swapped out their jungler. So it's quite difficult to guess what team shows up tomorrow. From the games, they still seem a bit messy and uncoordinated, but every member is quite strong individually. So depends on how well they've practiced and how well prepared they are on the day. In terms of prediction of the score, I think we will 3-1 them".

Matchup of the series

Menacing Bob (Good Chi Gaming, Jungle) vs Mules (Kinetic Esports, Jungle)

Menacing Bob has been excellent for Chi in every single game, but there is more to this matchup for him. He is facing his ex-team. Bob played for Kinetic previously but was kicked after some disputes, and he is here to take his revenge against his former org. A woman selected to stop him - Kinetics star jungler Mules. With excellent early playmaking, Mules has been a driving factor for their CWL finals run. A jungler who got kicked vs his previous coach. While not direct rivals, they will duke it out and will fight tooth and nail for that early game control.

Kinetic has scaled to be a strong contender and I expect some banger games, but not necessarily a banger series. Call it being biased, but Good Chi just has too many things going their way. They already beat KNR, they have more experience as a roster playing together, and they have gone undefeated against all other teams as well. Right now, I need to see Chi drop a game before I can predict that they will lose a game. The games will be hard and close but eventually, Good Chi will complete the undefeated and legendary 0 loses CWL title.
