SLE Playoffs Round 1 ZG vs EVO

Team Evolution vs Zero Gaming - Saturday 23rd of April.                                                                     22:30 CEST

In our only d1 v d1 matchup in Top bracket round 1, SLE hyped newcomers Team Evolution will battle SLE veterans Zero Gaming. Looking at this matchup purely off stats and ranks, it can be a very competitive bo3, but looking into the numbers and seasons they are having, the picture turns much grimmer for Zero Gaming. While they are 1-1, Zeros' win was due to Evo failing to arrive at their game in time. Evo has also shown competitive performance in their games vs Good Chi Gaming and Vitagen, while Zero has failed to take a win off with any D1 top-tier teams. The last reason why I think this will be a 2-0 is the matchup dynamic – Evo is known to be strong at laning and gaining leads with solokills and strong individual early game plays, the very thing Zero has struggled with the most this season.

If Zero is gonna pull out one of the biggest upsets in the SLE history they will need to survive the early game and outplay Evolution in teamfights, but if there is a team that can surprise it is Zero, last season they showed their underdog spirit, taking out one of the current d1 favorites RT1. Can they do that again?

Matchup of the series: Chankyputo(Zero, Jungle) vs Obsedian(Evo, Jungle).

If there is going to be an upset, it will have to come from strong early ganking from Zero Gamings Chankyputo. Chankyputo has shown creative jungle pathing to secure successful ganks and first bloods for Team Zero, he will need to tune that to the max and drag his team out of the early game, giving them a chance to play teamfights. Meanwhile, on another side, Obsedian, is one of the league's premier carry junglers, he will farm, take up resources and counter gank only when needed. Will Chankyputo ganks be enough to match well-farmed carry junglers impact in midgame?

Team Evolution

Strengths: Every single role in Team Evolution can be the carry. Evo is very versatile having carry picks and pop-offs from every role making them very difficult to prepare for. No weak parts of the team individually.

Weaknesses: Evo's usual draft setup has comparatively less engage and tank tools making their objective fights very position and vision reliant. If an opposing team can set up their vision first and take control of objective entrance choke points, Team Evolution's usual teamcomps can be unable to enter and contest objectives.

Zero Gaming

Strengths: Experience and clutch factor. Zero Gaming will have to channel their experience to pull off this upset. It won't be the first time they are in the playoffs, it won't be the first time when they are massive underdogs and it might not be the first time they pull off a surprise in the tournament.

Weaknesses: Playing from behind – once Zero is behind there is almost no stopping it as it snowballs into devastating losses. Zero will have to look for opportunities to salvage their poor early game with strong picks like Lucian and Volibear.

Asta the messiah prediction:

I can write and theorize as much as I want, at the end of the day, we all know that Asta dictates the destiny. This time he has called for another upset. Zero will take the series 2-1. Will Astas prediction streak continue or will the logic prevail. Tune in to see it on Saturday at 22.30. CEST SLE twitch channel - https://www.twitch.tv/lol_sle.
