SLE Split 2 Division 1 Regular Season review
SLE Split 2 Division 1 Regular Season review
Another SLE regular season has ended. I want to thank everyone who participated, commented, watched, subbed in, and shitposted, together we made the season exciting to the very last game! Here is a brief rundown for every team that participated in division 1.
Lotus Glaucous(2-12,
2-6 before withdrawal) – 8 the
One of the last split
finalists and beloved team in the SLE community Lotus Glaucous started the season
with ambitions to finish the work they started last season and take the SLE D1
title and it did start promising with a win vs Zero Gaming, followed by very
close matchups that saw Lotus just losing the game in the late game. Sadly that
would turn out to be the main storyline of their season, very competitive in
some games, but unable to close out the game when it matters. Even with the
negative record, Lotus looked like a possible dark horse for playoffs, but
unfortunately, news that the team will need to withdraw from the league ended that
conversation. Will be looking forward to seeing them return stronger next
season.
Standout
player: Flay2Day, Support, 4.25 KDA.
While there were some good games from Raiko Nari and midline sub
Takatin90, Flay2Day showed a consistent level of gameplay throughout the team
struggles, set his teammates up to carry, and had a solid tournament in and
outside of the lane.
NSG Based Department/Forsaken(2-12,3-7 before withdrawal) – 7th
The previous split winner will take the place in the bottom two this
time as the standings this time have been reversed. NSG did expect tougher
competition as they mentioned Team Evolution as one of their main rivals this
season but were not ready for the level that SLE brought at the beginning of
the season. Soon after NSG's main roster Forsaken ran into some troubles and had
to withdraw from the league subbing in a rather unique squad in their picks and
game approach – Based Department. During their time in SLE they managed to play
some of the most famous unique team comps – poison(twitch, Cassiopeia, Singed, Teemo, Lilia), can't kill me(Sion, Trynda, Khartus, Sivir, bard), invisibility(Shaco, Twitch, Akshan, Evelynn, Pyke) and last but definitely the most chad – Healsluts(Viego + lulu, Yummi, Zilean, karma). Due to some reasons, the team was
banned from the rest of the competition(I think someone was afraid that they
might unite all infinity stones of based team comps and will channel the Bronzodia in playoffs) but in their time in SLE, they brought fun, memes, and
energy. O7
Standout player: Sanixx. Support/Jungle, KDA 0.69.
Nice.
Reef Esports (2-12. 6-2 before withdrawal) – 6th
Joining the league with a little delay, Reef Gaming quickly made a
name for themselves with their high-ranked Soloq accounts and high-level
mechanical play. Reef Gaming annihilated tournament favorites Vitagen in both
games, had a strong 6-2 but moving into the latter half of the season ran into
issues with topliners' eligibility stopped them from further competition. Reef
dropping out surely makes the league less competitive as they were one of the
favorites for the title.
Standout player: Addi, Mid – 80% winrate, 8.6KDA(1st in
SLE) , 10,2 KPG(1st in SLE), 2DPG(1st in SLE).
Addi was putting in clean performance after clean performance marching towards SLE MVP status, sadly it was cut short, still giving him wins in multiple individual categories.
Zero Gaming(7-7) – 5th
SLE veterans Zero gaming have completed yet another successful regular
season qualifying for SLE playoffs. While it has not been their best season
inside the summoners rift, Zero has been a class act in continuing to
participate in every game, doing their best to fill the roster, and not
withdrawing from a league where they struggle in. Team captain Chunky voiced
that team is not performing to their usual level and I would agree with him, the team is surely playing worse than some of its parts. In the last playoffs, Zero gaming
eliminated Red Team 1 in the playoffs, Let's see if Zero will cook another upset
this season.
Standout player: x1kser
While none of Zeros players' stats look shiny, X1kser was
competitive with opposing Midlanders, going toe to toe and being a rock for the
team.
Team Evolution (9-5) – 4th
Team Evolution started the season strong and the rumors were that
they might be the favorites to take it all. Sadly it did not materialize and the team has found itself in the middle of the pack. While Team Vitagen did
bounce back to secure a decent 2nd part of the split, Evo has not
shown up at the end(sometimes literally, having an issue with understanding how
summertime works). Evolution still ends the season being the only one to
defeat Team Vitagen(from teams that finished the league) and will try to
replicate that success in the playoffs.
Standout player: Kill, Support, 14.13 APG(3rd in SLE)
Kill showed clean gameplay and few mistakes being the best
performing member in sometimes struggling Team Evolution. Racking up 14 assists
per game, Kill was the only Team Evolution member to appear at the top of any
statistical category.
Good Chi Gaming(10-4) – 3rd
The debut league season for Good Chi Gaming in any league has to be
rated as a success. While they did have ambitions of securing 1st,
some unfortunate withdraws and drafts did set them back to 3rd place
in the league which surely will not satisfy GCG. Dropping both games to
Vitagen, meanwhile being the only team to defeat Reef, then going 1-1 with both RT1 and EVO, Good Chi Gaming
has been hot and cold in the entire tournament. Will we see good or bad chi in the playoffs, only time will tell, but they are my dark horse for the playoffs win.
Standout player: Loco64, Support, 82% winrate(tied for 1st),
5,89KDA(2nd in SLE), 149 assists(3rd in SLE)
Before promoting Loco64 to start, Good Chi Gaming was 0-2 in
SLE. With Loco GCG went on an 8 game winning streak setting their ambitions to
1st. Loco has shown excellent mechanics, game read, and calls. Best
Thresh in SLE and a contender for best support in SLE.
Red Team 1(11-3) 2nd
Another SLE veteran team showed their class and skill snatching
the 2nd place right at the end of the split, Red Team 1 had a good
pace and decent showings through the whole split, and by taking a game off Good
Chi Gaming in the critical last game of their season, Red Team 1 showed that they
can compete even with the top-ranked teams. RT1 will be looking to carry this
momentum into playoffs where they have struggled before, but luckily with season-ending, they managed to dodge their rivals Zero gaming and get a 1st
round playoff bye.
Standout player: Flow, ADC, 9.0 KPG(2nd in SLE),
5.25KDA(7th in SLE, 1st between ADCs)
While there are multiple high-impact players as well as a strong
support squad, Flow is the RT1 star player having multiple pop-off games and being
impressive on champions other than Jinx.
Team Vitagen(13-1) 1st
And our SLE regular-season split 2 champions – Team Vitagen! Team
Vitagen showed impressive form at the beginning of the season, then dropped the
ball at the middle but cleaned it up at the end. Vintagen was 1st
after week 1 and kept it for the rest of the season not getting dethroned once.
While they had their shadow of the doubt after two of their losses vs Reef were
turned into wins due to withdrawal, Team Vitagen showed that they deserve 1st
place with a dominating win vs Good Chi Gaming at their last game of the
season. They are surely going in the playoffs as the favorites to take it all.
Standout player: Dutchh, Jungle, 155 assists(2nd in
SLE)
There was a lot of options for a standout player of the split for
our champions. Bard a papa and xthaizz have shown a high level for almost every
game, Its Lmr has been one of the best adcs in the season, and Kaptenen was
arguably the MVP of the first half of the season, but in the end, I will give the standout nomination to teams glue guy Dutchh. Dutch showed pure class having
little to no bad games in a season and was the element to unite Team Vitagen
towards victory.
